So it amuses me that BRYCE is the one with multiple characters in this anime, and even so, he STILL ends up with the smaller blondes… Poor Bryce. I don’t know if he has the range that his co-star Keith Silverstein does. What kills me the most, though, is that yet again Bryce Papenbrook doesn’t quite change his voice TOO much. The blonde hair certainly isn’t shaggy, and his eyes are yellow instead of green (although I have seen fanart that has given him green eyes…) Papenbrook.Īt least there’s some diversity in Sawada Keizaburo’s look. He even has a super focused mode where his pushed back hair even has that same shaggy hairstyle as Chat Noir andīut wait, because we’re not through yet! There is yet ANOTHER petite blonde fighter also voiced by Mr. Imai Cosmo, the blonde-haired, green-eyed, happy-go-lucky character who is actually quite the badass in combat despite being small compared to most of the other fighters. And you’ll never guess which character he is… Well, good old Brycey Boy is cast in that show as well. I just reblogged an old post I wrote about Keith Silverstein due to Hubby and I recently watching the anime Kengan Ashura on Netflix. Any ideas on who we should call in to voice this guy?” Oh, and we already have Max Mittelman voicing his flying, low-key destructive, badass companion. He’s a great swordsman, and has the devastating power to destroy, but is the good guy almost to a fault. “Hey, we have this white guy with shaggy blonde hair and green eyes. My point being? That Bryce Papenbrook has found himself into some sort of weirdly specific type casting. (In truth, part of me thinks Meliodas is essentially Goku Quantum Leaping into Adrien before being teleported into the world of Liones….) I’m not 100% convinced that Meliodas isn’t just a high fantasy version of Cat Noir, or Cat isn’t a modern day superhero version of Meliodas. They would both easily sacrifice themselves for the people they love (and both actually have…). Yet both Cat Noir and Meliodas aim to be undoubtedly heroic caring for humanity in a way that it’s hard to believe they could ever turn against his friends. They also both have pasts that would normally lead someone with that power towards villainy (especially with how evil both of their fathers are >_> ). The biggest similarity, for me, between Cat Noir and Meliodas, however, is their power.īoth men have the intense power to destroy everything around them. (Plagg from Miraculous and King from Seven Deadly Sins)Įven Plagg and King resemble each other…. They even both have a companion who can float/fly, is seemingly laid-back but actually has devastating power, and is voiced by Max Mittelman. (Meliodas from The Seven Deadly Sins and Cat Noir from Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir)īoth tiny white boys have almost identical shaggy blond hair. Specifically, this is his superhero persona Cat Noir (Chat Noir):Īnd it’s specifically the Cat Noir side I want to focus on, because… this design looks reeeeeeeaaaaaally familiar…. His roles include Silver the Hedgehog in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Makoto Naegi in Danganronpa, and Ramus Pharmain in Lunar: Silver Star Harmony. So, as I mentioned in an earlier post, there is a surprisingly close character design between Adrien Agreste/Cat Noir and Meliodas. Papenbrook is often typecast as a fairly young protagonist, though he is just as known for portraying more temperamental characters. When not doing voice overs, he offers kickboxing lessons at the House of Champions Academy of Martial Arts in Van Nuys. Like his father, Papenbrook is proficient in martial arts, having become a 3-time kickboxing champion with over 60 fights to his name. Born to Debbie Rothstein and the late Bob Papenbrook, he graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in political science. Bryce Papenbrook (born Februin West Hills, California) is an American voice actor and kickboxing instructor.
